Pelvic Floor Dysfunction Awareness
Pelvic floor dysfunction is a women’s health issue that deserves more attention because many women experience bladder leakage, pelvic pressure, pelvic pain, constipation, or difficulty with daily activities but may feel embarrassed or believe these symptoms are normal. Pelvic floor disorders affect about one in four U.S. women, and symptoms can become more common with age, pregnancy, childbirth, and menopause (NICHD, 2008). Pelvic floor dysfunction is not just a “normal part of aging”; treatment and support are available.
